Short explanation

WeGIA prior to version 3.8.6 contains a vulnerability via sessionStart.php that leads to session fixation and database host name disclosure.

Why does it matter?

Attackers can exploit this vulnerability to hijack authenticated user sessions and gain visibility into internal system information.

What should be done?

  • Update WeGIA to version 3.8.6 or later
  • Follow the vendor advisory
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

WeGIA 3.8.6 öncesi sürümlerde oturum sabitleme ve bilgi sızıntısı açıklığı mevcuttur.

Saldırganlar kullanıcıların oturumlarını ele geçirmek için bu açığı istismar edebilir.

Show the technical text from the sources

WeGIA is a web manager for charitable institutions. Prior to 3.8.6, the auto-prepended web/html/seguranca/sessionStart.php reflects an attacker-supplied PHPSESSID cookie in a Set-Cookie response and uses DB_HOST as the cookie domain. If a victim authenticates while using the attacker-selected identifier, the attacker can reuse that identifier to hijack the authenticated session. The response also discloses the internal database host name through the cookie Domain attribute, and the vulnerable session handler affects all PHP pages. This issue is fixed in version 3.8.6.
