Short explanation

CVE-2026-55457 in Goobi viewer allows unauthenticated users to bypass the authorization mechanism. Accepting an empty default value when unconfigured leads to this flaw.

Why does it matter?

This vulnerability can lead to unauthorized access to protected endpoints, compromising the confidentiality and integrity of sensitive data.

What should be done?

  • Follow official vendor advisories and announcements
  • Update the affected goobi-viewer-core component
  • Review configuration settings
Note on uncertainty

The sources give limited detail on some technical conditions. Review the chain of evidence below before deciding how to act.

Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

Konfigüre edilmemiş token değerleri boş bir dize döndürerek AuthorizationFilter bileşeninin doğrulama mekanizmasını atlatmasına izin verir.

26.05 sürümünden önceki goobi-viewer-core sürümleri bu zafiyetten etkilenmektedir.

Show the technical text from the sources

The Goobi viewer is a web application that allows digitised material to be displayed in a web browser. Prior to version 26.05, Configuration.getWebApiToken returns the empty string when webapi.authorization.token is not configured. AuthorizationFilter compares the supplied token against this default without first checking that the configured token is non-empty. A request to any @AuthorizationBinding-protected endpoint with an empty ?token= value is therefore accepted. This issue has been patched in version 26.05.
