Short explanation

A high-severity vulnerability has been identified in Eclipse Vert.x affecting the io.vertx:vertx-http-proxy component. The body transformer interceptor logic in the HTTP proxy can force a server to indefinitely allocate heap memory.

Why does it matter?

This vulnerability allows attackers to exhaust server resources and compromise service continuity. Affected versions include 5.0.0 to 5.0.12, 5.1.0 to 5.1.9, and 5.2.0.

What should be done?

  • Follow official vendor security advisories
  • Update the affected component
Note on uncertainty

The sources give limited detail on some technical conditions. Review the chain of evidence below before deciding how to act.

Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

Eclipse Vert.x içindeki io.vertx:vertx-http-proxy bileşeni savunmasız sürümlerde süresiz heap tahsisine yol açabilir.

Güvenlik açığı CVSS 4.0 üzerinden 8.7 yüksek skoruna sahiptir ve intercepting body transformer kullanımı gerektirir.

Show the technical text from the sources

In Eclipse Vert.x versions [5.0.0,5.0.12] or [5.1.0,5.1.9] or [5.2.0, 5.2.0], the HTTP proxy provides a body transformer interceptor that relies on a max buffered bytes limit to ensure a bounded buffer for each request. This can be used to force a server to indefinitely allocate heap. This vulnerability requires to use an intercepting body transformer. The impacted component is io.vertx:vertx-http-proxy.

Patch and Remediation Guide

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
