Short explanation

A CSS sanitization vulnerability in Zimbra Collaboration Suite (ZCS) allows an authenticated user with Briefcase access to publish a document that displays attacker-controlled content under the Zimbra origin.

Why does it matter?

This vulnerability compromises user security by allowing attackers to load external resources and present credential-collection forms under the Zimbra origin.

What should be done?

  • Follow vendor advisories
  • Monitor update information via Zimbra Security Advisories
  • Audit user access permissions and Briefcase sharing
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

Zimbra Collaboration Suite sürümleri 10.1.16 ve 10.1.20 zafiyetten etkilenmektedir.

Show the technical text from the sources

A CSS sanitization vulnerability in Zimbra Collaboration Suite (ZCS) allows an authenticated user with Briefcase access to publish a document that displays attacker-controlled content under the Zimbra origin. When processing a stylesheet containing non-ASCII characters, DefangFilter appends the final ASCII segment without sanitizing it. HTML stored as application/x-zimbra-doc can therefore retain CSS URL references that the normal sanitizer removes. An attacker can share a crafted document that loads external resources and displays a credential-collection form using Zimbra's own visual assets. Exploitation requires the victim to open the document in a browser that renders the content type inline; credential theft additionally requires form submission. ZCS 10.1.16 and 10.1.20 are affected.

Patch and Remediation Guide

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
