Short explanation

A CWE-22 vulnerability exists in the py-aspect-model-loader component of the Eclipse Semantic Modeling Framework (ESMF). The loader improperly resolves cross-file model references by parsing specific namespace components, leading to directory traversal outside intended roots.

Why does it matter?

This vulnerability can allow unauthorized access to arbitrary files outside the intended model root directories, merging foreign contents into the returned graph.

What should be done?

  • Follow official vendor advisories and security updates
  • Apply guidance provided by the maintainers
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

esmf-sdk-py-aspect-model-loader 2.1.2 ile 2.2.1 sürümleri zafiyetten etkilenecek şekilde belirtilmiştir.

Zafiyet CWE-22 kategorisinde sınıflandırılmıştır.

Show the technical text from the sources

In esmf-sdk-py-aspect-model-loader versions 2.1.2 to 2.2.1, the Aspect Model loader resolves cross-file model references by extracting the third and fourth colon-separated components of any urn:samm:… namespace declared in a parsed Turtle file to build a directory to scan. A model file containing @prefix x: <urn:samm:../../../foo:bar#> or @prefix x: <urn:samm:/abs/path:bar#> causes the loader to glob and parse *.ttl files from arbitrary directories outside the intended models root, merging their contents into the returned graph.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
