Short explanation
In F' (F Prime) prior to version 4.3.0, the Svc::FileUplink component processes destination paths in file upload packets without canonicalization. This allows a peer capable of sending file uplink packets to create or overwrite files, impacting integrity.
This vulnerability enables attackers to manipulate file system locations, overwrite critical files, and potentially compromise system availability.
What should be done?
- Updating to version 4.3.0 or later
- Following vendor advisories for patching guidance
Chain of evidence and sources
F' (F Prime) 4.3.0 öncesi sürümlerde Svc::FileUplink bileşeni, hedef yolları doğrulama veya dizin kısıtlaması olmadan işlemektedir.
Saldırganlar mutlak veya yollarda gezinen hedefler sağlayarak dosya oluşturabilir veya üzerine yazabilir.
Bu sorun sürüm 4.3.0 ile giderilmiştir.
Show the technical text from the sources
F´ (F Prime) is a framework that enables development and deployment of spaceflight and other embedded software applications. Prior to 4.3.0, Svc::FileUplink handling of Fw::FilePacket::StartPacket destination paths FileUplink copies the packet-controlled destinationPath and opens it for writing without canonicalization or confinement to an upload directory. When a peer able to send file-uplink packets supplies an absolute, traversing, or otherwise attacker-selected writable destination path, files can be created or overwritten at attacker-selected writable filesystem locations, affecting integrity and potentially availability. This issue is fixed in version 4.3.0.
