Short explanation
openEQUELLA before 2026.2 suffers from a stored cross-site scripting vulnerability because the pre-login notice is stored as HTML and rendered on the legacy logon page without encoding or sanitisation. Unauthenticated exploitation is possible where specific permissions are granted to guest users.
It allows authorized or specific unauthenticated users to execute arbitrary scripts on the login page, resulting in stored cross-site scripting risks.
What should be done?
- Follow the vendor advisory
- Apply available updates
