Short explanation

In Lychee prior to version 7.6.3, the GET /api/v2/Zip endpoint authorizes album archives without enforcing access controls, allowing unauthenticated attackers to download password-protected albums as ZIP archives.

Why does it matter?

Unauthenticated attackers can download password-protected photo albums without entering the password, exposing sensitive photographs and associated metadata.

What should be done?

  • Follow the vendor advisory to apply updates.
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

Lychee 7.6.3 öncesi sürümlerde GET /api/v2/Zip, AlbumPolicy::canAccess() denetimini zorunlu kılmamaktadır.

Kimliği doğrulanmamış bir saldırgan, paylaşılan albüm tanımlayıcısını kullanarak şifre girmeden ZIP arşivi indirebilir.

Show the technical text from the sources

Lychee is a free, open-source photo-management tool. Prior to 7.6.3, GET /api/v2/Zip authorizes album and photo archives through AlbumPolicy::canDownload() and PhotoPolicy::canDownload() without first enforcing AlbumPolicy::canAccess(). For a public, password-protected album with grants_download enabled, an unauthenticated attacker who knows the shared album identifier can download a ZIP archive without supplying the password or unlocking the album, even though browsing endpoints deny access. The archive exposes the album's photos and can include full-resolution originals and associated metadata when grants_full_photo_access is enabled. This issue is fixed in version 7.6.3.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
