Short explanation
CVE-2026-120956 stems from a validation omission in the MongoDB C Driver. A malformed namespace field returned by the server can cause client application termination and memory disclosure [S0]. The impact is limited to the process embedding the driver [S0].
A MongoDB endpoint requiring no credentials can return a malformed value, terminating the client process and leaking sensitive heap memory [S0].
What should be done?
- Monitor vendor advisories and related updates
- Review affected driver versions
Chain of evidence and sources
MongoDB C Driver, sorgu yanıtında dönen namespace alanının biçimini doğrulamaz [S0].
Kimlik doğrulama gerektirmeyen bir uç nokta, bozuk bir değer döndürerek sürecin sonlanmasına neden olabilir [S0].
Sürücü, tahsis edilen arabelleğin dışından okuma yaparak yığın belleğini uç noktaya gönderebilir [S0].
Show the technical text from the sources
The MongoDB C Driver does not validate the type or format of a namespace field returned by the server in a query response. A MongoDB endpoint that a client application connects to, without needing any credentials, can return a malformed value in that field. This causes the client application process to terminate, and can also cause the driver to read memory outside an allocated buffer and to send a small amount of the application's own uninitialized heap memory back to the endpoint in a follow-up command. The impact is limited to the process that embeds the driver.
