Short explanation

CVE-2026-120678 in the MongoDB C Driver is a memory management flaw during compressed response handling that can cause a denial of service [S0, S1]. An unauthenticated party controlling the database endpoint can cause repeated, unbounded memory growth in the connected client application [S0, S1].

Why does it matter?

This vulnerability can be exploited over the network without requiring credentials, transport security settings, or user interaction [S0, S1]. Failing to release memory when compressed replies fail to parse may result in the client application becoming completely unavailable [S0, S1].

What should be done?

  • Follow vendor advisories to review updates [S0]
  • Audit database endpoint connection security and network access [S0, S1]
  • Verify affected C# Driver versions [S0]

CVE-2026-120678, MongoDB C Driver bileşeninde sıkıştırılmış yanıtların ayrıştırılamaması durumunda bellek sızıntısına neden olur.

Saldırganın kimlik doğrulaması veya kullanıcı etkileşimi gerekmeden ağ üzerinden uygulamayı hizmet dışı bırakması mümkündür.

Etkilenen sürümler arasında C# Driver için 1.25.0 - 1.30.14 ve 2.0.0 - 2.5.7 aralıkları bulunmaktadır.

Show the technical text from the sources

A memory management flaw in the MongoDB C Driver's handling of compressed responses may cause the client library to hold on to memory that is never released. An unauthenticated party that controls the database endpoint a client application connects to may cause repeated, unbounded memory growth in that application, which may result in the application becoming unavailable. No credentials, transport security settings, or user interaction are required.

Patch and Remediation Guide

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
