Short explanation

CVE-2026-115918 in vLLM allows an authenticated caller to bypass the trust_request_chat_template policy via the /v1/responses endpoint and cause resource exhaustion.

Why does it matter?

This vulnerability enables attackers to trigger CPU or memory exhaustion via Jinja rendering, threatening service availability.

What should be done?

  • Follow vendor advisories.
  • Apply the relevant updates.
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

vLLM /v1/responses uç noktası, kimliği doğrulanmış bir çağrıcının trust_request_chat_template politikasını atlamasına izin verir.

Saldırı, Jinja işleme yoluyla CPU veya bellek tükenmesine neden olabilir.

Show the technical text from the sources

vLLM is an inference and serving engine for large language models. From 0.16.0 until 0.32.0, the /v1/responses endpoint allows an authenticated caller to place an attacker-controlled template in chat_template_kwargs[chat_template] when no server template is configured. ChatParams.get_apply_chat_template_kwargs() preserves that value without enforcing trust_request_chat_template, so the request can bypass the intended trust policy and cause CPU or memory exhaustion through Jinja rendering. This issue is fixed in version 0.32.0.

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
