Short explanation

An SQL Injection vulnerability exists in the Extension "File manager" (ameos_filemanager) for TYPO3, caused by the file search function wrapping search terms in quotes without properly escaping quote characters (S0). The vulnerability allows an attacker to read data from the database (S0).

Why does it matter?

This vulnerability allows remote attackers without authentication to access sensitive database information, potentially leading to significant confidentiality breaches (S0).

What should be done?

  • Follow the vendor's official security advisory
  • Review update details when available
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

Show the technical text from the sources

The file search of the extension builds its database conditions by wrapping the search term in quotes itself. Only the wildcard characters of the LIKE operator are escaped, quote characters are not. A crafted search term can therefore leave the intended string value and change the database query. This allows an attacker to read data from the database. The issue affects every searched field.
