Short explanation

A vulnerability in Eclipse OpenJ9 allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to exhaust the JITServer compilation worker thread pool and cause a denial of service via crafted TCP connections.

Why does it matter?

This vulnerability enables remote unauthenticated threat actors to silently halt compilation services, directly threatening system availability.

What should be done?

  • Follow official vendor advisories and updates
  • Approach with caution as the patch status is currently unknown
  • Review network-based access controls
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

Eclipse OpenJ9 sürümlerinde JITServer bileşeni, kimlik doğrulaması gerektirmeyen uzaktan hizmet kesintisi zafiyetine açıktır.

MessageBuffer::computeRequiredCapacity() içerisindeki tamsayı taşması, iş parçacığının sonsuz döngüye girmesine neden olur.

Show the technical text from the sources

In Eclipse OpenJ9 versions prior to 0.63.0, the JITServer component is vulnerable to a pre-authentication remote denial of service. When processing the initial 4-byte length field of an incoming TCP connection, an integer overflow in `MessageBuffer::computeRequiredCapacity()` causes the receiving compilation worker thread to enter an infinite loop consuming ~100% CPU. An unauthenticated remote attacker can exploit this by opening a small number of crafted TCP connections to exhaust the entire worker thread pool, silently halting compilation services for all connected client JVMs.

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
