Short explanation

An out-of-bounds write vulnerability exists in the Eclipse Foundation GUIX binary resource loader due to unvalidated page header data.

Why does it matter?

This vulnerability can lead to memory boundaries being exceeded and high-impact risks due to unvalidated input and flawed cursor arithmetic.

What should be done?

  • Follow official vendor advisories
  • Use unaffected software versions
  • Review official sources for patch status
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

Eclipse Foundation GUIX içinde bir sınır dışı yazma zafiyeti bulunmaktadır.

Zafiyet, iki ayrı geçişte bağımsız imleç aritmetiği kullanılmasından kaynaklanmaktadır.

Show the technical text from the sources

The GUIX binary resource (theme) loader sizes its arena and populates it in two separate passes that traverse the resource file with independent cursor arithmetic. Because `gx_page_header_data_size` is never validated against the glyph data a page actually contains, the two passes can read different page headers for the same font page, derive different glyph counts, and reserve less than the load pass writes. The excess is written past the end of the arena, with content taken verbatim from the file. The overflowed buffer is allocated by GUIX itself, through `_gx_system_memory_allocator`, rather than supplied by the caller. The public API `gx_binres_theme_load()` takes no size parameter, so no amount of caller diligence prevents this. Reproduces in the shipped default configuration; `GX_BINARY_RESOURCE_SUPPORT` is enabled by default.

Patch and Remediation Guide

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
