Short explanation

CVE-2026-102477 affects the io.vertx:vertx-gprc-server component in Eclipse Foundation Eclipse Vert.x. Because gRPC endpoints apply the configurable maximum message size to received bytes rather than uncompressed content, the endpoint becomes vulnerable to compression bomb attacks.

Why does it matter?

This vulnerability allows attackers to bypass configured message limits and force excessive memory allocation, leading to significant availability impacts with a high severity rating.

What should be done?

  • Follow vendor advisories
  • Apply relevant updates
  • Review gRPC components

CVE-2026-102477 açığı io.vertx:vertx-gprc-server bileşenini etkiler.

Maksimum mesaj boyutu denetiminin sıkıştırılmamış içeriği kapsamaması sıkıştırma bombası saldırılarına yol açar.

Show the technical text from the sources

In Eclipse Vert.x versions [4.0.0, 4.5.34] or [5.0.0,5.0.12] or [5.1.0,5.1.9] or [5.2.0, 5.2.0], a gRPC endpoint does have a configurable per message maximum size in bytes, however the maximum size applies to the received bytes. When applied to a compressed message, this only applies to the compressed size and not the actual size of the uncompressed content. This can be used to force a gRPC endpoint to allocate more bytes than the value defined by the configuration, making the endpoint vulnerable to compression bomb attacks. The impacted component is io.vertx:vertx-gprc-server.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
