Short explanation

The Eclipse Foundation Eclipse Vert.x HTTP client relies on an SSL context for efficiency and is vulnerable because cache keys fail to fully reflect desired SSL semantics. A client requesting an SSL context with hostname validation may incorrectly obtain a weaker context that ignores validation.

Why does it matter?

This flaw allows clients to receive weaker SSL contexts than intended, leading to bypassed security controls and compromised confidentiality and integrity.

What should be done?

  • Follow official vendor advisories
  • Apply updates released for affected versions
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

Eclipse Vert.x HTTP istemcisi, verimlilik amacıyla bir SSL bağlamına güvenir ve önbellek anahtarı SSL semantiğini eksiksiz yansıtmalıdır.

Etkilenen bileşen io.vertx:vertx-core olarak belirlenmiştir.

Show the technical text from the sources

In Eclipse Vert.x versions [5.0.0,5.0.12] or [5.1.0,5.1.9] or [5.2.0, 5.2.0], the Vert.x HTTP client relies on an SSL context for efficiency purpose, the key of this cache should reflect entirely the SSL semantics of the desired SSL properties. It is possible for a client to ask for an SSL context and obtain an SSL context with weaker properties, for instance a context with hostname validation and obtain a context ignoring hostname validation. The impacted component is io.vertx:vertx-core.

Patch and Remediation Guide

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
