Short explanation
A vulnerability has been identified in the Linux kernel where codetag_load_module() loses error codes and can lead to memory leaks.
This vulnerability can lead to system instability by returning incorrect values during error conditions and causing memory leaks.
What should be done?
- Follow official vendor advisories
- Free memory via a new livepatch_cleanup label
- Check update details
Chain of evidence and sources
Linux kernel içinde codetag_load_module() başarısız olduğunda err hatayı yansıtacak şekilde ayarlanmaz.
Canlı yama durumunda copy_module_elf() tarafından ayrılan mod->klp_info hata yolunda sızıntı yapar.
Show the technical text from the sources
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: module: fix lost error code from codetag_load_module() If codetag_load_module() fails, err is not set to reflect the failure and load_module() returns 0 after the module has been torn down. Also, if the module is a livepatch, mod->klp_info allocated by copy_module_elf() leaks on this error path. Free it via a new livepatch_cleanup label.
