Short explanation
A vulnerability exists in the Linux kernel Bluetooth btintel subsystem regarding the parsing of DDC record lengths due to storage wrapping issues. This flaw can cause incorrect record boundaries and improper validation before issuing commands.
Failing to properly validate length parameters in Bluetooth components can lead to memory safety issues and subsystem instability.
What should be done?
- Follow vendor advisories
- Apply kernel updates as available
The sources give limited detail on some technical conditions. Review the chain of evidence below before deciding how to act.
Chain of evidence and sources
Linux çekirdeğindeki Bluetooth btintel alt sistemi, DDC kayıt uzunluklarını imzasız depolamada ayrıştırarak 0xFF sarmasını önleyecek şekilde güncellenmiştir.
Intel_Write_DDC komutu yayınlanmadan önce üç baytlık başlıktan küçük, U8_MAX değerini aşan ve kalan bellenim baytlarını aşan kayıtlar reddedilir.
Show the technical text from the sources
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: Bluetooth: btintel: validate DDC record lengths Parse DDC record lengths in unsigned storage so 0xFF does not wrap. Reject records smaller than the mandatory three-byte header, records exceeding U8_MAX, and records exceeding remaining firmware bytes before issuing Intel_Write_DDC. This issue was reported by Claude Mythos.
