Short explanation
A vulnerability exists in the Linux kernel drm/mediatek component due to a missing IS_ERR check for the platform_device_register_data function. This flaw can lead to the use of an invalid pointer, potentially resulting in a kernel crash.
This vulnerability matters because improper pointer handling can trigger a kernel crash and lead to service disruptions.

Chain of evidence and sources
platform_device_register_data fonksiyonu başarısız olup ERR_PTR döndürebilir ancak bu durum kontrol edilmemektedir.
Geçersiz işaretçi ddp_comp[].dev içine kaydedilerek component_match_add ve mtk_ddp_comp_init fonksiyonlarına aktarılmaktadır.
Show the technical text from the sources
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/mediatek: Add missing IS_ERR check for ovl_adaptor platform device platform_device_register_data() can fail and return an ERR_PTR, but the return value is used without checking, leading to an invalid pointer being stored in ddp_comp[].dev and passed to component_match_add() and mtk_ddp_comp_init(), which could result in a kernel crash. Add an IS_ERR() check to jump to the error handling path on failure.
