Short explanation
A pdev reference leak has been identified in the drm/mediatek subsystem of the Linux kernel within the mtk_drm_bind() function. When the device is not the mmsys master, mtk_drm_bind() returns early after taking a reference on the disp-mutex device without dropping it.
Reference leaks caused by improper resource management can lead to system instability or resource exhaustion. Such issues may disrupt the proper functioning of affected driver components.
What should be done?
- Monitor vendor advisories and updates
- Review the corresponding patch references
Chain of evidence and sources
Linux çekirdeğindeki drm/mediatek bileşeninde mtk_drm_bind() fonksiyonu pdev referans sızıntısına sebep olmaktadır.
Cihaz mmsys ana bileşeni olmadığında mtk_drm_unbind() fonksiyonu mutex_dev nesnesini yalnızca ana bileşen için bırakmaktadır.
Show the technical text from the sources
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/mediatek: Fix pdev reference leak in mtk_drm_bind() When the device is not the mmsys master, mtk_drm_bind() returns early after taking a reference on the disp-mutex device via of_find_device_by_node(), without ever dropping it: mtk_drm_unbind() only puts mutex_dev for the master. Drop the reference before returning from the non-master path.
