Short explanation
A vulnerability has been identified in the Linux kernel serial core subsystem, causing a NULL pointer dereference issue in serial_core_unregister_port() when no port device is installed.
This vulnerability can trigger invalid memory accesses and kernel instability within affected Linux kernel components, potentially leading to system crashes.
What should be done?
- Follow official vendor advisories
- Review the relevant kernel source patch references
- Apply updates based on vendor recommendations
Chain of evidence and sources
serial_core_unregister_port() fonksiyonu, port aygıtı olmadığında NULL olan port->port_dev değerini doğrudan referans almaktadır.
Sorunun giderilmesi için port aygıtı bulunmadığında erken çıkış yapılması ve port->port_dev değerinin port_mutex altında okunması gerekmektedir.
