Short explanation
The CVE-2026-98680 vulnerability in the Linux kernel indicates that the kionix-kx022a driver can cause a memory leak and state issues during the buffer enable path.
This flaw can lead to unreleased memory and un-reverted hardware configurations following failed operations, potentially causing system instability.
What should be done?
- Freeing memory on the error path
- Reverting hardware configuration and state flags
- Following vendor advisories
Chain of evidence and sources
Linux kernelindeki kionix-kx022a sürücüsü, arabellek etkinleştirme yolunda bellek sızıntısına ve hatalı duruma açık bir yapı barındırmaktadır.
kx022a_fifo_enable() fonksiyonundaki regmap işlemi başarısız olursa ayrılan bellek serbest kalmamaktadır.
Show the technical text from the sources
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: iio: accel: kionix-kx022a: Prevent memory leak and fix state The driver allocates memory for samples at buffer enable path. If regmap operation fails in the kx022a_fifo_enable() at the buffer enable path, the allocated memory is never freed. Furthermore, the state information and previous hardware configuration(s) aren't undone, potentially leaving WMI interrupts and buffers enabled, or driver state flags wrong. Free the memory and revert the hardware configuration and state flags on error path.
