Short explanation
A vulnerability has been identified in the Linux kernel iio: adc: stm32-adc subsystem that can lead to a division by zero in processed channels. Failing to check for errors or zero return values during conversions causes this issue.
This security flaw can cause division by zero errors during the processing of converted data, potentially leading to system instability or unexpected faults.
What should be done?
- Monitor vendor advisories and updates
- Review patch references in the kernel source code
The sources give limited detail on some technical conditions. Review the chain of evidence below before deciding how to act.
Chain of evidence and sources
Linux çekirdeği stm32-adc sürücüsünde olası sıfıra bölme hatası giderilmektedir.
Dönüşüm başarısız olduğunda veya sıfır döndüğünde *val işlenmesi sıfıra bölmeye neden olabilir.
Show the technical text from the sources
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: iio: adc: stm32-adc: fix possible division by zero in processed channel In case the conversion has failed or returned zero, processing *val can lead to a division by zero. Need to check for errors, or converted value is zero, before processing the data. In case the converted value is zero, e.g. the Vrefint channel, this should be considered as invalid in all cases.
