Short explanation

CVE-2026-98630 is a flaw in the Linux kernel fbnic driver where an error pointer is passed to page_pool_destroy() during payload page pool cleanup. This can dereference the error pointer and leave the header page pool allocated, causing a memory leak.

Why does it matter?

Memory leaks can exhaust system resources, leading to service disruption and instability.

What should be done?

  • Monitor official kernel releases for updates
  • Apply patches promptly when available
  • Since patch status is unknown, follow vendor advisory
  • Consider mitigation measures for affected versions
Chain of evidence and sources3 verified claims

Aktif istismar raporlanmamıştır; CVE CISA KEV listesinde yer almamaktadır.

Yama durumu resmi kaynaklarda doğrulanamamıştır; yama mevcut olduğunda vendor advisory izlenmelidir.

Show the technical text from the sources

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: eth: fbnic: Fix payload page pool error cleanup The payload page pool pointer contains an error pointer when its allocation fails. The cleanup path passes that error pointer to page_pool_destroy() instead of destroying the header page pool. This can dereference the error pointer and leave the header page pool allocated. Destroy the header page pool instead.
