Short explanation

A vulnerability in the Moleculer framework's TCP transporter packet parser allows a remote unauthenticated peer to trigger an infinite loop that blocks the Node.js event loop, causing a denial of service.

Why does it matter?

This unauthenticated vulnerability allows attackers to render affected services unresponsive and require a restart, directly threatening operational continuity.

What should be done?

  • Follow vendor advisories to apply updates
  • Review transporter configurations
Note on uncertainty

The sources give limited detail on some technical conditions. Review the chain of evidence below before deciding how to act.

Show the technical text from the sources

Moleculer is a progressive microservices framework for Node.js. Prior to 0.14.36 and 0.15.2, Parser._write in src/transporters/tcp/parser.js used Buffer.prototype.readInt32BE to read a signed packet length, so a remote unauthenticated peer could supply a negative value that caused packet.slice(length) to return the unchanged buffer while the while (packet.length > 0) loop continued indefinitely. The synchronous loop blocked the Node.js event loop and made every service in the process unresponsive until restart. The TCP transporter must be enabled and reachable, and neither CRC validation nor maxPacketSize prevents the malformed length value. This issue is fixed in versions 0.14.36 and 0.15.2.

Patch and Remediation Guide

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.

Public exploit and active exploitation status

Verified exploit intelligence

No verified public PoC, exploit repository or Metasploit module has been found for this CVE yet.
