Short explanation
The BuddyBoss Platform plugin up to version 3.6.0 contains a Stored Cross-Site Scripting vulnerability via Group Name (S0). This enables authenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts into target pages (S0).
It poses a medium risk because it allows authorized users to execute malicious scripts due to insufficient input sanitization (S0).
What should be done?
- Follow vendor advisories (S0).
- Restrict group creation to administrators (S0).
Chain of evidence and sources
BuddyBoss Platform eklentisi 3.6.0 ve önceki sürümlerde Grup Adı üzerinden Saklanan Sitelerarası Betik Çalıştırma açığına açıktır (S0).
Açık, abone düzeyinde erişime sahip kimliği doğrulanmış saldırganların rastgele web betikleri enjekte etmesine imkân tanır (S0).
Show the technical text from the sources
The BuddyBoss Platform plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via Group Name in all versions up to, and including, 3.6.0 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. This requires the "Enable social group creation by all members" setting to be enabled, which is the default and permits Subscriber-level users to create groups; exploitation is not possible if group creation is restricted to administrators.
