Short explanation
A security vulnerability in ezBookkeeping allows a remote attacker to bypass access controls due to missing SetTrustedProxies configuration in the Gin router. This flaw affects systems between versions 0.10.0 and 1.6.0.
This vulnerability enables attackers to mask their IP addresses and bypass allowed source IP lists. Although a valid token remains required for protected actions, activity is incorrectly attributed to a trusted host in request logs.
What should be done?
- Follow vendor advisories and apply available updates
- Configure trusted proxies properly in the Gin router
- Review related release notes for guidance
Chain of evidence and sources
ezBookkeeping 0.10.0 ile 1.6.0 sürümleri arasında gin.New() ile yapılandırılan Gin yönlendiricisi SetTrustedProxies içermez.
Sahte bir X-Forwarded-For başlığı kullanılarak mcp_allowed_remote_ips veya api_token_allowed_remote_ips sınırları atlanabilir.
Etkinlikler güvenilir bir konağa atfedilerek Transaction.CreatedIp ve istek günlüğünde saklanır.
Show the technical text from the sources
ezBookkeeping is an open source, self-hosted personal finance application. From 0.10.0 until 1.6.0, ezBookkeeping constructs its Gin router with gin.New() without configuring SetTrustedProxies, causing c.ClientIP() to trust a spoofed X-Forwarded-For value. An unauthenticated remote attacker can supply an allowlisted address to bypass the mcp_allowed_remote_ips or api_token_allowed_remote_ips gate. A valid MCP or API token remains required for protected actions. When such actions occur, the same spoofed value is stored in Transaction.CreatedIp and the request log, attributing activity to the trusted host instead of the attacker. This issue is fixed in version 1.6.0.
