Short explanation

Jane Menu WordPress plugin versions prior to 1.5.1 lack capability or nonce checks on form handlers, allowing unauthenticated users to bind remote documents. This enables arbitrary JavaScript execution in visitor browsers.

Why does it matter?

This unauthenticated vulnerability allows attackers to execute arbitrary JavaScript in the browser of any visitor, including administrators.

What should be done?

  • Follow vendor advisory notices
  • Update the plugin to a secured version
Note on uncertainty

The sources give limited detail on some technical conditions. Review the chain of evidence below before deciding how to act.

Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

Jane Menu eklentisinin 1.5.1 öncesi sürümleri, form işleyicilerinde yetki veya nonce kontrolü içermez.

Kimlik doğrulanmamış bir saldırgan, herhangi bir ziyaretçinin tarayıcısında rastgele JavaScript çalıştırabilir.

Show the technical text from the sources

The Jane Menu WordPress plugin before 1.5.1 does not have any capability or nonce checks on one of its form handlers, which is reachable by unauthenticated users, allowing them to bind any published page to a remote document of their choosing. The plugin then fetches that document and outputs its head and body into the page without escaping, so an unauthenticated attacker can run arbitrary JavaScript in the browser of any visitor to that page, including an administrator.
