Short explanation
The Waitlist Woocommerce ( Back in stock notifier ) plugin up to version 2.9.1 is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the 'type' shortcode attribute, allowing authenticated contributor-level attackers to execute malicious scripts.
It enables an authenticated attacker to inject arbitrary web scripts into pages, endangering users who access the injected page.
What should be done?
- Monitor and follow vendor advisories for updates
- Disable or remove the plugin if necessary
- Review permission levels and restrict contributor access
The sources give limited detail on some technical conditions. Review the chain of evidence below before deciding how to act.
Chain of evidence and sources
Waitlist Woocommerce ( Back in stock notifier ) eklentisi 2.9.1 ve önceki sürümlerde Stored XSS açığı barındırmaktadır.
Show the technical text from the sources
The Waitlist Woocommerce ( Back in stock notifier ) plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via 'type' Shortcode Attribute in all versions up to, and including, 2.9.1 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with contributor-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. The wp_kses_post filter applied on contributor post save does not prevent this vulnerability because shortcode attribute values are not HTML and pass through kses unchanged; the payload is materialized only at render time when the shortcode is expanded.
