Short explanation

An information exposure vulnerability exists in the HttpClient component of Eclipse Jetty where controllable redirects can cause authentication credentials to be sent to an incorrect path (S0).

Why does it matter?

This vulnerability may allow attackers to intercept authorization headers via a malicious application deployed on the same domain (S0).

What should be done?

  • Monitor vendor advisories for updates (S0)
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

Eclipse Jetty HttpClient bileşeni, `/secure/../evil` biçimindeki yönlendirmelerde yolları normalleştirememektedir (S0).

Saldırganın yönlendirmeleri kontrol edebilmesi durumunda `Authorization` başlığı yanlış adrese gönderilmektedir (S0).

Show the technical text from the sources

In Eclipse Jetty, HttpClient may receive a redirect of the form: ``` /secure/../evil ``` If an attacker is able to control the redirects, then HttpClient matches authentication credentials against `/secure` rather than normalizing the path to `/evil`, and will therefore follow the redirect sending the `Authorization` header for `/secure` to `/evil`. This also mean that the attacker must have an evil application deployed on the same domain as the target.

Patch and Remediation Guide

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
