Short explanation
An unauthenticated attacker can cause a denial of service in Apache OFBiz multitenant mode by submitting arbitrary userTenantId parameters, driving unnecessary memory and database load.
This unauthenticated vulnerability allows attackers to inflate the internal cache with arbitrary tenant IDs, leading to excessive resource consumption and potential service disruption on target systems.
What should be done?
- Follow vendor advisories and official mailing lists
- Monitor for updates as the patch status is currently unknown
Chain of evidence and sources
Show the technical text from the sources
In multitenant deployments, ContextFilter and LoginWorker built a per-tenant delegator name from a request-supplied userTenantId parameter and requested a delegator for it before confirming the tenant existed. DelegatorFactory's internal cache retains every delegator name it is asked to resolve, including ones that fail to resolve, so an unauthenticated attacker could submit a stream of arbitrary tenant IDs to grow this cache without bound, driving unnecessary memory and database load.
