Short explanation
CVE-2026-73130 is a resource exhaustion vulnerability in Gitea caused by a lack of length limitation on the gitignores field in repository creation forms and the API. An authenticated attacker can submit oversized values to increase memory usage and impair availability.
This vulnerability allows attackers to degrade Gitea availability by exhausting memory resources. The ability of low-privileged users to trigger this condition through repository creation vectors elevates its operational importance.
What should be done?
- Follow vendor advisories to apply available updates
- Review related pull requests and patch references
Chain of evidence and sources
Gitea depo oluşturma formlarında ve API'sinde gitignores alanının uzunluğunu sınırlamamaktadır.
Saldırganlar aşırı büyük bir değer göndererek şablon okumalarını ve bellek kullanımını artırıp erişilebilirliği bozabilir.
Gitea 1.27.2 ve önceki sürümler bu zafiyetten etkilenmektedir.
Show the technical text from the sources
Gitea does not limit the length of the gitignores field accepted by repository-creation forms and the API. Repository initialization splits the field into template names, repeatedly reads the referenced templates, and buffers their contents in memory. An attacker who can create repositories can submit an oversized value to amplify template reads and memory use, impairing availability.
