Short explanation
In affected versions of NLnet Labs Routinator, the HTTP server runs out of open connections when many connections are opened but never closed, leaving the server unavailable. Attackers can maliciously trigger this condition by opening a large number of connections to the HTTP server. This only affects users that make their HTTP or RTR server available to untrusted networks.
This vulnerability can lead to availability issues that threaten service continuity in Routinator deployments where the HTTP or RTR server is exposed to untrusted networks.
What should be done?
- Follow vendor advisory documentation
- Avoid exposing the HTTP or RTR server to untrusted networks
Chain of evidence and sources
