Short explanation

CVE-2026-72752 affects NLnet Labs Routinator. The application runs out of memory or encounters a stack overflow and exits when processing concurrent JSON output requests or discarding payload items with excessive metadata.

Why does it matter?

Users who make their HTTP or RTR server available to untrusted networks face availability risks due to this denial of service condition.

What should be done?

  • Isolate HTTP or RTR servers from untrusted networks
  • Follow official vendor advisories and guidance
Chain of evidence and sources3 verified claims

Show the technical text from the sources

Routinator runs out of memory when the JSON output is requested many times concurrently. This condition can be triggered maliciously by an attacker by opening a large number of connections to the HTTP server. Additionally Routinator runs into a stack overflow and exits when a payload item with too much metadata is discarded at once. This only affects users that make their HTTP or RTR server available to untrusted networks.

Patch and Remediation Guide

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
