Short explanation
A concurrency cancellation issue in Gitea allows bypassing the approval requirement for first-time fork contributors. Certain job transition paths do not re-check approval requirements, which can lead to unreviewed workflow code execution.
This vulnerability enables attackers to bypass required workflow approval rules and execute unreviewed code on self-hosted runners. Although fork secrets remain withheld, it introduces unauthorized code execution risks.
What should be done?
- Review the provided patch references.
- Follow the vendor advisory from Gitea.
- Update the affected software.
Chain of evidence and sources
Gitea, işleri bloke ederek ilk kez çatal oluşturan katkıda bulunanların onayını uygular, ancak bazı iş geçiş yolları bu gereksinimi yeniden kontrol etmez.
Ayrı bir çalıştırma, beklemedeki bir işi iptal ederek bloke edilen kardeş işlerin onay alınmadan dağıtılmasına neden olabilir.
Bu zafiyet, denetlenmeyen iş akışı kodunun self-hosted runner üzerinde çalıştırılmasına izin verirken fork gizli anahtarlarını gizli tutar.
Show the technical text from the sources
Gitea enforces first-time fork contributor approval by blocking jobs, but some job transition and dispatch paths do not re-check the run's approval requirement. A separate run sharing a job-level concurrency group can cancel a pending job and cause its blocked sibling jobs to be re-emitted and dispatched without approval. This allows unreviewed workflow code to execute on self-hosted runners; fork secrets remain withheld and the run token remains read-only.
