Short explanation

In Coop, an open source review and moderation tool by ROOST, resetPasswordForToken updates the password row without invalidating database-backed sessions, creating a security flaw prior to version 1.0.2 [S0].

Why does it matter?

An attacker who has established a session retains access for up to the 30-day maximum age even after the legitimate user resets the password, leaving the account compromised [S0].

What should be done?

  • Update Coop to version 1.0.2 or later [S0].
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

Coop 1.0.2 öncesi sürümlerde resetPasswordForToken işlevi parola güncellenirken veritabanı oturumlarını geçersiz kılmamaktadır.

Saldırgan ele geçirdiği oturumla, meşru kullanıcı parolayı sıfırlasa bile 30 günlük maksimum süre boyunca erişimi korur.
