Short explanation
Lookyloo versions before 1.39.4 allow an unauthenticated user to call the /json/<uuid>/report endpoint with crafted email and comment parameters. The endpoint incorrectly overwrites the as_admin flag, causing Lookyloo to query a connected MISP instance and send a report email. This behavior can overload the MISP server, leading to a denial‑of‑service.
A compromised MISP instance can disrupt threat‑intelligence sharing for organizations that rely on it.
What should be done?
- Upgrade Lookyloo to version 1.39.4 or later
- Apply vendor advisory
- Review MISP integration settings
- Monitor logs for unexpected report requests
The sources give limited detail on some technical conditions. Review the chain of evidence below before deciding how to act.
Chain of evidence and sources
Lookyloo 1.39.4 öncesi sürümler bu açığı içerir.
Kimlik doğrulaması gerektirmeden /json/<uuid>/report isteği gönderilerek as_admin bayrağı true yapılabilir ve MISP sunucusu DoS’a uğrayabilir.
Sorun 1.39.4 sürümünde düzeltilmiştir; yama durumu resmi kaynaklarda kesin olarak doğrulanamamıştır.
Show the technical text from the sources
Lookyloo is a web interface that allows users to capture a website page and then display a tree of domains that call each other. Prior to version 1.39.4, an unauthenticated user can trigger Lookyloo's "report a capture" email on demand (this is expected). The /json/<uuid>/report API endpoint (CaptureReport) is incorrectly passing the email and comment parameters, overwriting as_admin. When True, as_admin will trigger a search query on a MISP instance (if configured) and add a list of matching URLs in the email sent to the analyst (not the submitter, so there is no risk of leaking information) . It could potentially cause a DoS on the MISP instance. This issue has been patched in version 1.39.4.
