Short explanation
GeoNode prior to version 5.0.3 stores document abstract metadata without sanitization, leading to stored XSS. Low-privileged remote users can persist arbitrary HTML and JavaScript.
It allows low-privileged users to execute malicious scripts in target browsers, compromising data confidentiality and session integrity.
What should be done?
- Follow vendor security advisories
- Upgrade to version 5.0.3
- Audit document metadata inputs
Chain of evidence and sources
GeoNode 5.0.3 öncesi sürümlerde belge özeti meta verileri temizlenmeden saklanır.
Düşük yetkili bir uzaktaki kullanıcı, hedef kullanıcının tarayıcısında çalışan betikler enjekte edebilir.
Show the technical text from the sources
GeoNode is a geospatial content management system, a platform for the management and publication of geospatial data. Prior to 5.0.3, document abstract metadata is stored without sanitization, allowing a low-privileged remote user to persist arbitrary HTML and JavaScript that executes in another user's browser when the document page is visited. This issue is fixed in version 5.0.3.
