Short explanation
Prior to version 9.3.9, EspoCRM is affected by a stored XSS vulnerability in wysiwyg template fields. When a user with specific permissions stores crafted HTML and CSP is disabled, it can lead to session hijacking.
If an authorized user stores malicious code and CSP protection is disabled, other users' sessions can be targeted, risking sensitive data exposure.
What should be done?
- Update to version 9.3.9 or a later version
- Follow vendor advisory guidelines
Chain of evidence and sources
Show the technical text from the sources
EspoCRM is an open source customer relationship management application. Prior to 9.3.9, a user with Email Template or PDF Template edit permission can store crafted HTML that bypasses moderateSanitizeHtml(). When another user opens the template in edit mode and clientCspDisabled is true, the stored payload executes and can hijack the user's session. This issue is fixed in version 9.3.9.
