Short explanation

The issue_tracker component in Loris fails to correctly verify edit access permissions, allowing authenticated users to modify issues outside their permitted scope.

Why does it matter?

An authenticated user bypassing permission boundaries to perform backend modifications poses a risk to data integrity.

What should be done?

  • Disable the Issue Tracker module if no longer in use
  • Follow vendor advisories
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

Loris uygulamasının issue_tracker bileşeni doğru düzenleme erişim izinlerini denetlemez.

Etkilenen sürümler 16.0.0 ile 27.0.4 ve 28.0.0 ile 28.0.2 aralığındadır.

Show the technical text from the sources

LORIS (Longitudinal Online Research and Imaging System) is a self-hosted web application that provides data- and project-management for neuroimaging research. In versions from 16.0.0 prior to 27.0.4 and from 28.0.0 prior to 28.0.2, the `issue_tracker` backend does not correctly verify edit access permissions, although the frontend restricts which issues a user may edit. An authenticated user can submit backend changes to issues outside the user's permitted edit scope. Deployments that no longer use Issue Tracker can disable the module to remove access to the endpoint. This issue is fixed in versions 27.0.4 and 28.0.2.

Patch and Remediation Guide

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
