Short explanation
An SQL injection vulnerability in OpenEMR before 8.5.0 allows users with Clinician-level privileges to read and modify database contents.
This flaw is critical because it enables an authorized user to perform database exfiltration and execute a full administrative account takeover.
What should be done?
- Update software to version 8.5.0 or later
- Monitor vendor security advisories
- Apply the relevant patch commits and pull requests
Chain of evidence and sources
OpenEMR 8.5.0 öncesi sürümler Syndromic Surveillance modülünde SQL enjeksiyon zafiyeti içermektedir.
Zafiyet, form_icd_codes[] POST parametresi üzerinden Clinician yetkilerine sahip kullanıcılar tarafından istismar edilebilir.
İstismar sonucu tam idari hesap ele geçirme (administrative account takeover) elde edilebilir.
Show the technical text from the sources
OpenEMR before 8.5.0 contains an authenticated SQL injection vulnerability in the Syndromic Surveillance module that allows users with Clinician-level privileges to read and modify arbitrary database contents by submitting crafted values in the form_icd_codes[] POST parameter to the syndromicsurveillance/index endpoint. Attackers can inject an unquoted numeric IN() clause and UNION DISTINCT SELECT statement using hex-encoded literals to abuse MySQL extractvalue() for error-based exfiltration of bcrypt password hashes and execute stacked queries that reset passwords, resulting in full administrative account takeover.
