Short explanation
An OS command injection vulnerability exists in Hitachi Energy CoreTec 5 and CoreTec 4 products within the configuration daemon's time synchronization handler (S0). It allows authenticated users with certain roles to execute arbitrary system commands (S0). The patch status remains unknown (S0).
It carries high risk as it allows authenticated attackers to gain full control over the device (S0). The vulnerability permits command concatenation due to a lack of input sanitization (S0).
What should be done?
- Follow the vendor advisory (S0)
Chain of evidence and sources
Hitachi Energy CoreTec 5 ve CoreTec 4 ürünlerinde yapılandırma arka plan programı zaman eşitleme işleyicisinden kaynaklanan işletim sistemi komut enjeksiyonu zafiyeti bulunmaktadır.
Zafiyet, belirli rollere sahip kimliği doğrulanmış kullanıcıların cihaz üzerinde tam kontrol sağlamasına ve rastgele komutlar çalıştırmasına olanak tanır.
Show the technical text from the sources
An OS command vulnerability exists in CoreTec product that allows authenticated users with certain roles to execute arbitrary system commands with full control over the device. The vulnerability exists in the configuration daemon's time synchronization handler, which is responsible for setting the system time-zone. When processing time-zone configuration updates, the daemon constructs a shell command by concatenating user-supplied input without any sanitization or validation.
