Short explanation
Hickory DNS contains a DNSSEC validation flaw in the validating recursor's NSEC3 handler. Attackers can deny resolution of existing names.
This flaw allows attackers to poison the DNS cache with crafted responses, denying access to critical domain names and affecting resolution integrity.
What should be done?
- Follow vendor advisories
- Update affected versions
- Review DNSSEC validation configurations
2 alanda kaynak uyuşmazlığı var. DayBreach bu değerleri saklamadı; kaynak karşılaştırması aşağıda gösteriliyor.
Chain of evidence and sources
Hickory DNS 0.25 ile 0.26.0-alpha.1 arasındaki sürümler ve 0.26.2 öncesi hickory-net 0.26.0-beta.1 sürümleri DNSSEC doğrulama hatası barındırmaktadır.
Kaynaklar arasında CVSS taban puanı konusunda farklılıklar bulunmaktadır; S1 taban puanı 8.7 bildirirken S2 taban puanı 8.8 olarak belirtmektedir.
Show the technical text from the sources
Hickory DNS hickory-proto 0.25 through 0.26.0-alpha.1 and hickory-net 0.26.0-beta.1 before 0.26.2 contain a DNSSEC validation flaw in the validating recursor's NSEC3 handler, which matches the closest encloser by hash alone without checking the type bitmap and so accepts parent-side ancestor-delegation NSEC3 records as proof of nonexistence. An attacker who delivers one response built from genuinely signed parent NSEC3 records can cause NXDOMAIN or NODATA to be cached with AD=1, denying resolution of existing names at and below the zone cut.
