Short explanation

Sveltejs devalue versions prior to 5.9.3 cause quadratic expansion in the uneval function when repeated primitive strings are processed; a small crafted payload can generate a huge serialized string that exhausts memory or CPU, leading to service disruption. (S0, S1, S2)

Why does it matter?

Service outages directly affect user experience and system availability.

What should be done?

  • Upgrade devalue to version 5.9.3 or later
  • Follow the vendor’s security advisory
  • Limit input size before calling uneval
  • Monitor memory and CPU usage
  • Consider alternative serialization libraries

Show the technical text from the sources

Sveltejs devalue before 5.9.3 contains a resource exhaustion vulnerability where repeated primitive strings cause quadratic expansion in the uneval function. Attackers can supply a small crafted payload that is parsed and then passed to uneval, producing a very large serialized string that exhausts memory or CPU.

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
