Gitoxide DoS Vulnerability (CVE-2026-123533)

Sources read

Short explanation

Gitoxide versions prior to 0.42.0 contain a denial‑of‑service flaw because the gix‑commitgraph parser does not validate the commit‑graph file, allowing attackers to supply a crafted .git/objects/info/commit-graph file (S0, S1).

Why does it matter?

DoS can disrupt CI/CD pipelines and automated analysis workflows.

What should be done?

  • Upgrade Gitoxide to version 0.42.0 or later;
  • Monitor vendor security advisory for patches;
  • Since patch status is UNKNOWN, stay alert for official fixes.

Chain of evidence and sources3 verified claims

Gitoxide 0.42.0 öncesi sürümler, gix‑commitgraph parser hatası nedeniyle DoS açığı içerir.

CVE, CISA KEV listesinde aktif istismar olarak yer almıyor.

Yama durumu resmi kaynaklarda doğrulanamadı; durum UNKNOWN olarak raporlanıyor.

Show the technical text from the sources

gix-commitgraph before 0.42.0, as used in gitoxide before 0.61.0, contains a denial of service vulnerability because its commit-graph parser does not validate parent graph positions against the declared commit count or check the EDGE chunk length for 4-byte alignment. Attackers can supply a repository containing a crafted .git/objects/info/commit-graph file to trigger panics that abort gix merge-base, gix blame, and applications embedding gix.

Patch and Remediation Guide

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
