Short explanation

darylldoyle svg-sanitizer from version 1.0.0 before 1.1.0 contains a regular expression denial of service and fail-open vulnerability within the image-set pattern of stripRemoteCssTokens() [S0].

When removeRemoteReferences is enabled, attackers can exhaust CPU resources or cause sanitize() to throw an error, leaving content unsanitized [S0].

What should be done?

  • Follow official vendor advisories [S0]
  • Update the svg-sanitizer package [S0]
  • Review removeRemoteReferences configurations [S0]
