Short explanation

CVE-2026-120831 contains a queue pointer corruption vulnerability in the if_output() function of libslirp. This flaw can cause the networking process to crash and lead to a denial of service.

Why does it matter?

This vulnerability matters because it can lead to a denial of service on host systems via network interactions. Guest systems generating burst traffic can impact host processes.

What should be done?

  • Follow vendor advisories
  • Review updates for available patches

Show the technical text from the sources

A flaw was found in libslirp in if_output(). When moving a session from the fast queue to the batch queue, the code unlinked and reinserted an arbitrary packet via ifm->m_nextpkt instead of the session queue head, corrupting queue pointers. A guest generating burst traffic could crash the host networking process, causing a denial of service.

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
