Short explanation
The Sleuth Kit through 4.15.0 contains a NULL pointer dereference vulnerability in decmpfs_decompress_lzvn_attr() [S0, S1].
Supplying a crafted HFS+ image causes the tool to crash, resulting in a denial of service condition [S0, S1].
What should be done?
- Follow vendor advisories as patch status is unknown [S0].
- Check official project resources for updates [S1].
Chain of evidence and sources
The Sleuth Kit 4.15.0 ve önceki sürümler, decmpfs LZVN açma işleminde NULL pointer dereference zafiyeti barındırmaktadır [S0, S1].
Zafiyet, hazırlanmış bir HFS+ görüntüsü ile aracın çökmesine ve hizmet dışı kalmasına neden olabilir [S0, S1].
Show the technical text from the sources
The Sleuth Kit through 4.15.0 contains a NULL pointer dereference vulnerability in decmpfs_decompress_lzvn_attr() that allows attackers to crash the tool by supplying a crafted HFS+ image. Attackers can set a huge uncompressed_size in an LZVN inline com.apple.decmpfs attribute so allocation fails and the decoder writes through NULL, causing denial of service.
