Short explanation

FFmpeg versions contain an uninitialized variable vulnerability in the CDXL decoder. This vulnerability leaks stack memory into decoded pixels via unfilled HAM palette entries.

Why does it matter?

Attackers can use a crafted CDXL file to expose stack bytes and pointer fragments in the BGR24 output, potentially revealing sensitive information.

What should be done?

  • Apply the available patch or updated version
  • Follow vendor security advisories
Chain of evidence and sources3 verified claims

FFmpeg 4.4 ile 9.0.2 sürümleri aralığında CDXL çözücüsünde başlatılmamış değişken zaafiyeti bulunmaktadır.

Açık, doldurulmamış HAM palet girdileri aracılığıyla yığın belleğinin çözülen piksellere sızmasına neden olur.

Saldırganlar, cdxl_decode_ham8 veya cdxl_decode_ham6 fonksiyonlarında doldurulmamış palet girdilerini seçen tip-0 CDXL dosyası hazırlayabilir.

Show the technical text from the sources

FFmpeg 4.4 through 9.0.2 contains a use of uninitialized variable vulnerability in the CDXL decoder that leaks stack memory into decoded pixels via unfilled HAM palette entries. Attackers can craft a type-0 CDXL file whose HAM pixels select unfilled new_palette entries in cdxl_decode_ham8() or cdxl_decode_ham6(), exposing stack bytes and pointer fragments in the BGR24 output.
