Short explanation

Versions before psqlODBC 18.00.0006 contain a length check error when quoting long schema and table names into a 128-byte stack buffer. Untrusted SQL text can lead to stack corruption.

Why does it matter?

This vulnerability exposes application processes to stack corruption when forwarding untrusted SQL text to the driver, threatening process integrity.

What should be done?

  • Follow official vendor advisories
  • Upgrade psqlODBC if an update is available
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

psqlODBC 18.00.0006 öncesi sürümler uzun şema ve tablo adları işlenirken yığın tamponu taşmasına açıktır.

Güvenilmeyen SQL metnini sürücüye ileten uygulamalar yığın bozulması riski ile karşı karşıyadır.

Show the technical text from the sources

When psqlODBC quotes a schema or table name into a 128-byte stack buffer, its length check lets it write up to two bytes past the end of the buffer for a long name. The names come from the application's SQL text: the table of a statement the driver parses to describe its columns, and the target of the last INSERT when the driver rewrites SELECT @@IDENTITY. In the @@IDENTITY rewrite, a column name sent by the server can also write one byte past the buffer. The bytes written past the buffer are a double quote and a NUL. An application that forwards untrusted SQL text to the driver exposes its process to stack corruption. Versions before psqlODBC 18.00.0006 are affected.

Patch and Remediation Guide

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
